In March 2014, Restorex were appointed to carry out extensive repairs and refurbishment of the external fabrics of the Clients housing stock building, involving slating, architectural lead work, masonry and decoration.Objectives
To work with the design team, in successfully repairing and restoring the external fabric of this class C listed building. It was important to carry out the full restoration process, within budget and time constraints, whilst recognising the need for minimal disruption to the residents, who were occupying of the property, throughout the works.Description
The designing, erecting and dismantling of significant areas of scaffolding, allowing access to carry out the following works.
- Extensive areas of stone replacement, both structural and aesthetic
- Rebuilding of chimneys
- Joinery repair and renewal
- Full redecoration of all windows and doors
- Extensive renewal of decorative and structural masonry
- Overhaul off roof coverings
- Stripping and replacement of architectural lead work
- Timber repairs to windows and roofs
Conclusion
It was a challenge to maintain tenants in residence whilst structural and internally invasive works were carried out. This was successfully achieved. It was also a pleasure working alongside the design team and a client who was extremely helpful.
