Following successful tendering. Restorex were appointed to carry out the following works:
Objectives
To fully restore the external fabric of this class A listed Georgian building. It was important to carry out the full restoration process, within budget and time constraints, whilst recognising the need for minimal disruption to the resident tenants and close neighbouring business.
Description
The designing, erecting and dismantling of scaffolding, allowing access to carry out the following works:
- Renewal of architectural leadwork
- Repair and refurbishment of metal balconies
- Extensive renewal of decorative and structural masonry
- Complete stripping and replacement off roof coverings
- Stripping and replacement of architectural lead work
- Timber repairs to windows and roofs
- Renewal of specialist metalwork
- Refurbishment to all windows, doors and rainwater goods
Conclusion
The scope works were straight forward, however having on site tenants gave us concern, in respect of noise disruption. The co-operation and assistance experienced from both the tenants and the design team was outstanding. It was no doubt instrumental in the successful conclusion of the project. Melville Street has yet another smart looking, carefully restored building, in the longest Georgian street in the UK.
