In July 2017, Restorex were appointed to carry out the replacement of fractured and defective stone columns and capital heads situated on the front elevation of one of Scotland’s premium 5 star hotels.Objectives
To work with the Engineers, in successfully repairing and renewing important structural masonry units of this class A listed building. It was important to carry out the full process, whilst maintaining the integrity of the adjoining structures, also recognising the need for minimal disruption to the hotel as it maintained trading throughout the works.Description
The erecting and dismantling of elevation and chimney scaffolding. Installation of structural propping systems, allowing access to carry out the following works.
· Stone column replacement.
Conclusion
Despite being complicated and potentially dangerous operation and having to work around the busy and a large trading hotel. The project was successfully concluded in time and to the agreed budget. It was also a pleasure working alongside the Engineering consultants and the hotel management who were of positive assistance and instrumental to the project’s success.
