Restorex were privileged to be appointed to carry out extensive conservation works - structural alterations and refurbishment of the external fabrics of this building in the heart of Leith which was constructed as a church.
Objectives
To conserve existing fabrics and undertake extensive structural repairs to this important former church. It was Important to carry out the full restoration process to a high standard, within budget and time constraints, whilst recognising the need for minimal disruption to the close neighbouring business and a working Art School.
Description
The designing, erecting and dismantling of significant areas of scaffolding, allowing access to carry out the following works.
- Extensive renewal of decorative and structural masonry
- Conserving and stabilising the remaining facades
- Complete re-slating of the tower, maintaining original feature details
- Stripping and replacement of architectural lead work
- Timber repairs and insect deterrent to turret and roof ventilators
- Renewal of specialist metalwork
- Refurbishment and decoration to all windows, doors and rainwater goods
