In January 2016, Restorex were appointed to carry out extensive repairs and conservation works of the external fabrics of this Historic building. This involved slating, architectural lead work, masonry, and decoration.Objectives
To work with the design team, in successfully repairing and restoring the fabric of this Historic Church . It was important to carry out the full restoration process, within budget and time constraints, whilst recognising the need for sensitive presence.Description
- Erecting and dismantling of elevation scaffolding, allowing access to carry out the following works.
- Stone replacement.
- Repointing
- Descaling
- Replacement of roof slating
- Stripping and replacement of architectural lead work
- Ground drainage
Conclusion
Sourcing appropriate and sizable slates, was a challenge. The building looks well for all the effort. Thanks to the Minister, the church staff and the design team were given for their assistance in bringing the project to a successful conclusion.
